This hands-on course prepares jobseekers, volunteers, and those returning to work with practical food safety knowledge aligned with industry standards and includes completion of DoFoodSafely.

In this course, you will gain a clear understanding of food handling requirements within the hospitality industry, including personal hygiene standards and food poisoning prevention. You will explore bacteria growth, contamination and cross-contamination, temperature control and the danger zone, as well as safe food storage, delivery, and display practices.

The course also covers effective cleaning, sanitising and waste management procedures, allergen awareness and food labelling requirements, legal responsibilities of food handlers, and essential record-keeping practices.

Refund Policy

For fee paying students, a full refund will be given if the student cancels 5 working days prior to the course commencement date.  Otherwise an administration fee of $20 will be deducted.

No refund will be given once a course has commenced, unless the student can provide evidence (medical reasons, personal problems, personal loss).  In this case a refund will be calculated on a pro rata basis.

If a course is cancelled by GEALC, a full refund will be given.
