GEALC is seeking passionate community members to join our Committee of Management (CoM) as voluntary members.
This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute your experience, insight and leadership to an established community organisation that is making a real difference in people’s lives.
We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience or interest in:
- Marketing and communications
- Fundraising and partnerships
- Community engagement
- Governance, legal or financial expertise
- Not-for-profit leadership.
Diverse perspectives are welcomed and encouraged.
THE ROLE OF COMMITTEE:
The Committee of Management provides strategic leadership and governance oversight for GEALC. The Committee focuses on long-term direction and accountability, while operational management is undertaken by the Executive Officer and staff team.
Key responsibilities of the Committee include:
- Setting the strategic direction of the organisation through business planning and budgets
- Ensuring sound governance, policies and risk management practices
- Monitoring organisational performance and financial sustainability
- Appointing and supporting the Executive Officer
- Ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory and funding obligations
- Acting as ambassadors for GEALC within the community.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
Be or become a member of GEALC:
- Attend monthly Committee meetings, the Annual General Meeting and occasional workshops or sub-committee meetings
- Prepare for meetings by reviewing agendas, minutes and reports
- Declare conflicts of interest where relevant
- Contribute constructively to governance discussions and strategic decisions
- Support and promote the work of GEALC within the community
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive organisational matters.
Members serve an initial 12-month term and may nominate for re-election at the Annual General Meeting.
