AMEP Assessment Interview

If you have an eligible visa, you can register for free English language tuition at GEALC.  IMPORTANT: You MUST register for the program within six months of your visa commencement date or the date you arrive in Australia.  If you have not registered within 6 months, you will need to provide reasons for why you did not register and provide evidence.

ALL students registering for free English language tuition, will need to attend an Assessment Interview. 

The Assessment Interview will take approximately two hours.  You will be assessed on your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.  The interviewer will select an appropriate course level and will confirm your study timetable.

Students undertaking the AMEP will study one of the following accredited EAL Framework Courses:

Course in EAL (22637VIC)     * Certificate I in EAL (22638VIC)    * Certificate II in EAL (22639VIC)    * Certificate III in EAL (22640VIC).

What to bring to the interview?  

You will need to bring:

  • your passport
  • visa details
  • any concession cards
  • your Unique Student Identifier (USI) number if you have one. A valid USI is required by all students undertaking an accredited training program. For more information on how to obtain a USI and to read the USI Privacy Notice, click HERE or ask at your interview.
  • evidence if you have not registered for AMEP within 6 months (travel documents, work, caring for children, etc).

You are welcome to bring someone with you if you need help with translating.

Please note: If you bring children to the interview, their safety and care are your responsibility.
