  • ABC Education Resources– include videos, listening resources, everyday English, articles. 
  • Australian content from the Edmund Rice Centre, WA– Modular workbooks in topics for adult EAL.
  • Queens Library – An American resource with topic and module based lesson plans and activities.
  • Wigan Council UK – support for young people, call headspace on 1800 650 890
  • English Language Resources – A New Zealand resource for EAL adult migrants. Topic and unit based worksheets, picture stories. Good for very low to intermediate levels.
  • TAFE NSW and AMES – Free learning resources from Tafe NSW and AMES, on topics such as Beach Safety, Calling an Ambulance, Health, Fire safety, Tax etc.
  • BBC -BBC Learn English – Different levels/ units from basic to advanced.
  • BBC adult Learners– English My Way’ under ‘Courses’- is good for adult learners with video clips and activities.
  • Canadian Resources – Canadian site “Hands On! A Collection of ESL Literacy Activities”. This is a great site for low-level students.
  • ESOL Course -ESOL Courses – from low level beginners to advanced. 
  • All Things Topics – An American site with a range of activities; topics, dialogues, worksheets, puzzles & games etc. Good for very low levels.
  • Maths & English – School Maths & English activities aligned to Australian curriculum.
  • ESL Library – ESL Library (subscription). All levels, lesson plans. Includes very low level. Requires paid subscription to access all resources.
  • ESOL Curriculum – American ESOL curriculum lesson plans and activities.
  • EDPUZZLE – Simplify a video for lower level learners or adapt a video already created by another teacher.  Easy to use.  
  • Teach This – Interactive worksheets; (resource for Australian School curriculum in all subjects). You need an account.
  • English Express – Free lessons on shopping, housing, cafes etc.
  • Claire Harris – Claire Harris resources. Free printable puzzles, books etc. 
  • WA TAFE AMEP – Western Australian North Metro Tafe AMEP resources.
  • VCAA – VCAA (Vic Curriculum Assessment Authority) Resource area with links to various sites, resources and images. E.g. Actors reading stories.
  • NSW AMES – NSW AMES publications free ( previously available for purchase) Includes ‘Work words’, ‘ Leisure words,’  ‘Beach Street’ and ‘Working Lives’. 
  • mmmEnglish-An excellent site with Australian lessons, pronunciation, topics and grammar activities in short video clips. Fun and interactive. New videos uploaded regularly.
  • Living English – an excellent resource developed by ABC Australia. There are 40+ episodes on YouTube. Very engaging, informative and easy to follow. 
  • Live Action English Interactive -Watch videos and follow instructional language with actions.  A US site, but very good and clear language for low levels. Some good hands on practical activities for students to follow from grocery shopping to making a table.  
  • 8 Exciting Brain Breaks -Great brain break activities for teachers to give students.
  • Aesop’s Fables – Short animations – Low levels.
  • Al Jankovich ‘Eat It

    Full of food and imperatives vocab.  E.g. to use:  print out lyric sheet and delete pronouns for students to complete while listening.

  • Adele’s Corner – Adele’s corner for online vocab, grammar and reading activities
  • A4esl – Grammar and vocab activities.
  • Printable Worksheet – Printable worksheets for numeracy, literacy and communication.
  • ESL Library – Subscription site that has a number of sample free lesson plans and worksheets.
  • ISL Collective – Free site for teachers with lots of worksheets, video clips etc. 
  • All Things Grammar – EAL grammar worksheets and activities to download and print.
  • Word Search – Word Search Puzzle.
  • Learning Chocolate – ‘Learning Chocolate’ for online activities.  Lot of vocab categories. Can select US or UK English. 
  • Lingua House – Create account for free lesson plans and worksheets. Can choose US or UK English.  From beginner to high levels.
  • Live Worksheet – A site for teachers to find interactive worksheets that show corrections and students can email to teachers. Teachers can also create their own interactive worksheets.
  • Off To Class – ‘Off To Class’.  Requires a subscription but a good site with a range of activities.
  • Carringbush Reading Series  – The Carringbush Reading Series features stories and language from everyday life that are relevant to adult English language and literacy learners living in Australia. 
  • PRACE Page Turners – free eBooks (Australian adult readers). Levels 1 to 4.
  • The Book Next Door – HARRIS Clare, 2015, My Job Is The Best, (Digital Copy) The Book Next Door, WA, Australia. It’s a free-to-download book + audio.
  • Book Creator – A good, free resource that teachers can use to tailor a context for vocabulary and grammar.
  • Bow Valley ESL Reader – Canadian, very good ESL Readers with narration, text and activities. Good for very low levels.
  • Best of the Reader – Canadian e-book readers with activities.
  • Story Nory – Stories and fairy tales for young people with narration and text
