The ADELE McNAIR AWARD for Excellence in Literacy is awarded annually at GEALC’s End of Year Certificate Ceremony (held in December) to the student who has improved the most in their reading & writing skills.
Adele McNair was a loyal supporter and a volunteer at GEALC for over 16 years. Adele first joined GEALC in 1995 as an office volunteer and in 1999, she was elected as the Chairperson on GEALC’s Committee of Management. With a background in teaching, Adele was an advocate for education and was passionate about helping people improve their literacy skills.
This special award honours the memory of Adele McNair and celebrates GEALC’s students who demonstrate a significant improvement in their literacy skills.
