
Glen Eira Adult Learning Centre (GEALC) is looking for an Education and Operations Manager to lead quality adult education delivery, compliance, and team coordination at its Centre based in McKinnon.
GEALC is an award-winning not for profit community-based Registered Training Organisation (RTO), Learn Local organisation and an Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) provider. GEALC provides quality, affordable, accessible education for adults to achieve their full potential and extend their involvement in activities in the community.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Centre Manager, this is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the delivery of accredited and pre-accredited programs, ensuring compliance with funding and registration requirements, supporting tutors and volunteers, and helping shape GEALC’s operational success.
You will coordinate the education team, manage quality assurance processes, and contribute to GEALC’s strategic goals—ensuring our learners receive the best possible support in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the coordination and delivery of EAL, AMEP, and pre-accredited programs
- Supervise and support tutors and volunteers, including recruitment, induction, and professional development
- Lead compliance, reporting and internal audits to ensure alignment with ACFE, AMEP and VRQA standards
- Manage GEALC’s Compliance Planner and maintain up-to-date policy documentation
- Contribute to strategic planning, funding applications, and program development
- Deputise for the Centre Manager and represent GEALC at stakeholder meetings and events
- Foster a positive, collaborative team culture and uphold GEALC’s commitment to quality and equity.
ABOUT YOU
You are a strong leader with experience in adult education and a commitment to community development. You thrive in a dynamic, people-centred environment and bring the ability to manage operations while supporting a diverse team of educators.
Essential:
- Relevant tertiary qualification and experience in an educational or community-based setting
- Proven leadership experience managing teaching staff and volunteers
- Strong knowledge of curriculum delivery, compliance, and adult education frameworks (e.g., ACFE, AMEP, VRQA)
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
- High-level proficiency with digital tools and education technologies
- Experience developing and implementing operational policies and procedures.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a not-for-profit or Learn Local organisation
- Familiarity with the EAL Framework and digital integration in adult education
- Understanding of migrant learner needs and barriers to participation.
