A NEW HOME FOR GEALC

Great news! The retail space at McKinnon Station, which temporarily housed Bentleigh Library, will soon become the new home of GEALC!

This retail space was made possible by the State Government’s level crossing removal project at McKinnon Road.  Over the past 8 months, GEALC has been working closely with Glen Eira Council and VicTrack to negotiate a lease for the site at 169A McKinnon Road, McKinnon. We are extremely grateful for this wonderful opportunity and we can’t wait to move into our new home.

When is the move likely to happen?

There are few stages to go through before the new space is ready to be used by GEALC to make it fit for purpose as a community education and engagement facility.  This includes planning permits, architectural plans for the internal modifications, building works and then the final move itself!

The GOOD NEWS is we will commence some classes from Term 3 2023 as one classroom is ready NOW (see our brochure for more details)

Once the other 3 classrooms and office spaces are fitted out, we will fully move in by the end of 2023!

Will you still run classes at Ormond?

Once we move into McKinnon, we will no longer have classes at Ormond.  ALL Ormond classes will move to McKinnon by 2024.

Will you still run classes at Carnegie Library?

Yes, we will continue to run classes in Carnegie on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in 2023 and we are also hoping to run classes on a Thursday in 2024!

MORE INFORMATION TO COME …. but in the meantime … here are some photos of our classes currently running from McKinnon!
