About GEALC

THE CENTRE

Glen Eira Adult Learning Centre Inc. (GEALC) is a community owned and managed, registered training centre . Since 1986, this Learn Local organisation has been providing quality, affordable, accessible education for adults. The Centre offers a wide range of programs for people who want to improve their English language, literacy, and computer skills, and extend their involvement in activities in the community. GEALC works actively with all levels of government and community organisations in order to provide educational opportunities to adults in the Glen Eira area.

GEALC’s mission statement is:

To provide opportunities for adults to fully participate in society through further education, employment and community inclusion.

Funding, Support and Donations

GEALC gratefully acknowledges support from:

♦ Adult Community & Further Education (ACFE)
♦ The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education & Training
♦ The Department of Health and Human Services (Neighbourhood House Coordination Program)
♦
Glen Eira City Council.

GEALC makes every dollar count! By making a donation, GEALC can support more migrants and vulnerable learners access high quality education and employment support.

GEALC is now affiliated with the Australian Neighbourhood Houses and Centres Association (ANHCA). What does this mean?  ANHCA can receive donations on behalf of GEALC (as we do not have Deductible Gift status from the Australian Tax Office in our own right).  Your donation through ANCHA is secure and tax deductable.  Once you have made a donation through ANCHA, GEALC will receive the money.

Through your generosity GEALC can help more people “reach their potential”. Click DONATE to show your support!

Community Capacity Building

GEALC continues to adapt, grow and deliver on its core business activities of providing quality education services in a professional, supportive and community focused environment.  The educational outputs that GEALC delivers are, of course, at the heart of its mission. However, it is important to note the additional benefits to students participating in GEALC’s classes in terms of the increase in their self-esteem and personal development as well as the enhancement to community capacity resulting from increased levels of social inclusion and community connectedness.

GEALC was extremely proud to receive the Glen City Council’s 2014 Community Group of the Year Award, in recognition of our significant contribution to the Glen Eira Community.

We are Learn Local Legends!

GEALC has been awarded with the 2016 Learn Local Legends award as nominated by ACFE Southern Metropolitan Regional Council.
This award recognises GEALC’s commitment to adult learning and the exceptional contribution it has made to their clients and broader community.
